Springhead is a family-owned and run craft micro-brewery based in Laneham near Retford in North Nottinghamshire. In 2015 the brewery were proud to celebrate 25 years of lovingly producing a range of exciting, quality craft beers, made with only the finest all-natural ingredients, sourced from our local area and across the globe.

It will be ‘Love at first pint’ when tasting one of the year-round core range of beers, and seasonal special brews, which change on a monthly basis. Roaring Meg is the leader of the pack and is a smooth golden classic IPA, known as ‘The Big Blonde’ to her drinkers, with a sweet, citrus honey aroma, and a long dry finish.

Springhead began life in Sutton-on-Trent as the smallest brewery in England in 1990, gaining a place in the Guinness Book of Records, with a brew length of just 2.5 brewers barrels (about 10 casks for a day’s work), but successful recipes soon led to national prizes and a huge increase in sales. The brewery then moved to larger premises where it expanded to a 10 brewer’s barrel plant, and more recently to 50 brewer’s barrels, making it one of the largest microbreweries in Nottinghamshire.

In May 2011 Springhead relocated to a converted old mill in the centre of the picturesque village of Laneham near Tuxford in North Nottinghamshire. This has provided much more production, office and storage capacity, and enabled the brewery to open a brewery tap ‘Meg’s Bar’, our onsite pub ‘The Bees’ Knees’, and to run brewery tours and house large events such as our Craft and Farmer’s Markets and beer and music festivals.

The beers continue to be supplied direct by the brewery to pubs across the country and by reputable wholesalers, pubcos and supermarkets throughout England, Scotland and Wales, as well as exported to selected countries around the world.

A refreshing, aromatic pale golden beer, with whole oranges added to the brew to give a delicious citrussy flavour, followed by a satisfying dry finish.

CHOCOLATE ORANGE ODYSSEY Abv. 4.0%

A distinctly decadent and sublimely smooth porter that is as black as the night, with a divine and bold dark chocolate and orange twist. Suitable for vegans.

DROP OF THE BLACK STUFF Abv. 4.0%

Our stunning porter is ominously dark but not heavy, with the lingering finish of roasted barley. Drop O' The Black Stuff is beautifully smooth and easy drinking.

EXODUS Abv. 3.7%

A bright golden-coloured beer, with a bold citrus flavour, balanced by a biscuity malt body, and with a burst of grapefruit aroma. Refreshing and clean tasting; the perfect session beer.

LEFT LION Abv. 4.0%

A traditional chestnut-brown bitter with a rich, creamy head, and flavours of malt and plenty of hops, leading to a perfectly balanced dry finish.

OUTLAWED Abv. 3.8%

A distinctly citrusy and thoroughly quaffable triple-hopped American Pale Ale. Easy drinking and beautifully light, clean, and crisp.
