Springhead Newsletter

A big hello to all of our drinkers, and we hope you’re having a lovely week! We have a whole host of exciting news packed into our latest newsletter, including a Silver medal win for our American Pale Ale, Outlawed, at the Midland’s SIBA Awards on Friday, as well as a nomination in the North Notts Business Awards, our upcoming Christmas beers and info on stocking up on them for the festive season, our new beer, Exodus, and lots more!

SIBA Award

We are very pleased to announce that our triple-hopped citrussy APA, Outlawed, won a silver award in SIBA's Midlands Independent Beer Awards 2017, Cask Standard Bitters and Pale Ales category on Friday! A huge thank you to the organisers and the judges, and of course to our wonderful drinkers, and a big congrats to our Head Brewer Keir for the sterling work he’s been doing on our brews! This follows on from a Gold Award for our porter Drop O’ The Black Stuff in last year’s awards, and another silver the year before that, so we’re very happy to see our beers being celebrated and gaining critical acclaim.

We’re also always very interested in hearing your feedback on our brews, and like to feature your reviews on our website and social media, so if you’d tried one of our beers recently, please let us know what you thought on ku.oc.daehgnirps@ofni or via our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/SpringheadBrewery/.

We also very much welcome your reviews of our beers Untappd, via their website (https://untappd.com/) or app, or on Ratebeer (https://www.ratebeer.com/)!

North Notts Business Awards Nomination

We are also very happy to announce that we have been nominated for the Best Artisan Business Award in the North Notts Business Awards this year. The award is given based on the number of public votes received for each category, so if you enjoy our beers, please consider voting for us. Current Seasonal Special – Surrender

Our current seasonal special is our beautiful South Pacific Pale, Surrender, made with Vienna malt, and finest Equinox and Cascade hops for a hit of tropical fruit flavours. It’s always a real favourite, so catch it while you can!

Upcoming Seasonal Specials for the Festive Period

We also have two very special seasonal brews coming up to see us merrily through the festive season - Fallen Angel, which is pale, with citrussy flavours and cinnamon warmth will be available from mid November, and Rudolph’s Ruin, which is caramel-coloured, with fruity flavours of dates and figs will be ready for the start of December.

Our Beers in Craft Kegs

Following its popularity in cask, our lovely South Pacific Pale, Surrender, is soon to join Roaring Meg and Outlawed in keg form. The craft kegging process, in which the beers are unfined and lightly filtered to maximise in aroma, taste and clarity has proved fantastic in preserving the flavours true to their original format, so if you haven’t tried them yet in keg we highly recommend them! We’re also very happy to see that producing our beers in kegs has enabled a whole host of other pubs and bars to stock our beers who previously weren’t able to. If you’d like to try them in your local, ask your landlord to get in contact, or let us know where and we’d be happy to give them a call to see what we can arrange!

Exodus

This month, our brewers have also been busy with a new concoction - introducing our brand new beer, EXODUS!

Exodus, 3.7% ABV, Colour: Golden

Tasting notes: A bright golden-coloured beer, with a bold citrus flavour, balanced by a biscuity malt body, and with a burst of grapefruit aroma. Refreshing and clean tasting; the perfect session beer.

Background: Exodus is our newest brew, light, and packed with fresh citrus flavour. It is brewed using Pale and Munich malt, Cascade hops, and an all-natural grapefruit infusion for a tropical citrus burst.

The beer has had a great reception so far, and has gone out to several wholesalers already, so let us know if you spot it on a bar near you! Exodus has been flying out the brewery – so much so, that we’re already had to produce our second brew of it!

Stock up on our Beers for Christmas!

With the festival season just around the corner (how did that happen?!), we’ve also been preparing for the Christmas rush by getting in new batches of our two bottle and a branded Springhead glass presentation gift packs, as well as our 17 and 35 pint boxes of beer, which are perfect to see you through Christmas and New Year or for your next party! We also have our beers available for you to enjoy at home in bottles, cans, or even a full 9 gallon cask for the more ambitious beer connoisseur. Call us on 01777 229 020 or email ku.oc.daehgnirps@ofni for more info or to arrange to collect your order either from our brewery in Laneham, near Retford, or from our central Nottingham pick up point in The Park (NG7), or ask our team if we’re able to deliver to your door!

Our brewery tap, Meg’s Bar, will also be open as a pop-up Christmas shop for you to call in, sample our Christmas seasonal specials and other beers, and stock up on our beers in all formats from 9am-4pm from Monday-Friday the week before Christmas (18th to 22nd December).

Roaring Meg Cans in Regional Co-op Branches

We’ve also had a new batch of cans of our flagship IPA made up in preparation for Christmas, and also ready for our first order to go into regional Co-op Branches! Please let us know if you spot it on the shelves, and what you think to the cans! The cans are 330ml craft cans, which are looking and tasting great, and you can also buy the cans direct from us in packs of 6 or cases of 24.

Nottingham Robin Hood Beer & Cider Festival 2017

Finally, a big thanks to everyone who visited us, stopped to chat and enjoyed a beer with us at the Nottingham Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival, where we had a Springhead bar from the 11th to the 14th of October. We had a fantastic weekend there, tried some truly delicious beers, and were very happy to see so many friendly faces visiting our bar and trying the eight beers we had on over the weekend. If you have any pictures from the festival, please send them in!

I think that’s everything for now – it’s been a busy month! As always a huge thanks for all of your support.

Best wishes,

Eve Springhead Brewery
